Year 3/4 Fliers Netball
On Monday 13th March, a group of 8 children from Years 3 and 4 had the opportunity to participate in a 'Fliers' netball tournament at Broadstone Middle School. This was the first time in many years that we have had a netball team represent Springdale at an event and what a fun time we had!
The aim of the event was fun, enjoyment and participation and our children embodied this. There was lots of laughing and supporting one another.
We played a round-robin of games against a variety fo different schools. Unfortunately, we were unable to win any of our games but there were many highlights. Both Freja and Grace scored some wonderful goals while Oscar and Hugo were rock solid in defence. Naomi and Kitty were covering the court providing options for passes and linking well with Esmae and Sophie. At the end of each game, it was wonderful to see lots of smiles - even the weather couldn't dampen their spirits!
Now that we have established a 'team' we are looking at building upon this for the future where hopefully we can become more competitive (while keeping the enjoyment aspect). The children should be very proud of themselves - they were a credit to our school!
A big THANK YOU also to the parents and grandparents who came down to watch and cheer on the children. Your support is invaluable and we couldn't take part in these events without it.
